Role Description

This is a 60-100% Contract role(freelancing) for an Electrical Engineer -  Grid & Infrastructure located in Zurich, Switzerland.

Your main responsibilities include:

• Grid Planning: Lead the technical planning and execution of electrical infrastructure projects, specifically focusing on distribution network expansions.
• Renewable Integration: Evaluate and process technical connection requests for PV systems, heat pumps, and e-mobility infrastructure.
• Network Analysis: Conduct grid simulations and network calculations using NEPLAN to optimize load distribution and identify bottlenecks.
• Technical Management: Oversee the administrative and technical workflow for new installations, including regulatory notifications and safety certifications.
• Coordination: Serve as the technical interface between the utility, industrial customers, and external engineering partners.

• Degree in Electrical Engineering (ETH/FH) specializing in Power Systems.
• 3–5 years of professional experience, ideally within a Swiss distribution system operator or Swiss Energy consulting firm.
• Strong proficiency in NEPLAN for grid calculation and familiarity with utility-specific software (e.g., ElektroForm).
• Professional-level German (C2/Native) is mandatory for local technical & PM coordination; English (C1)  is also a requirement.
• Strong analytical skills, a detail-oriented approach to Swiss electrical standards, and the ability to manage multiple project deadlines independently.
• Leadership, Team Management and Engineering Management skills.
• Experience in Project Management either as Project Manager or in other leading roles within a Project structure is a plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Professional Network in Switzerland is a strong plus.
• Entrepreneurial and strong ownership mindset is mandatory.
